The Specialist Technical Services Team within the School of Arts & Humanities delivers specialised technical support to students and staff, with a focus on providing a safe, effective, customer-focused service that ensures compliance with relevant Work, Health and Safety regulations, and aligns with both school and university strategic and operational goals.THE OPPORTUNITY
As the Technical Officer, reporting to the Senior Team Leader, Specialist Technical Services, you will:

  • Work as directed across the Specialist Technical Services Team to provide general technical support to the staff and students within the School of Arts and Humanities.
  • Contribute to ensuring that the work environment and learning spaces are clean, functional, healthy, and safe.
  • Provide assistance to staff and students as directed by the Senior Team Leader to facilitate safe and equitable access to equipment, facilities and materials as required.
  • Provide general technical advice and instruction to students, and assist with demonstrating the use of various equipment, techniques, processes, materials, and skills related to the students’ learning.
  • With oversight from senior team members, contribute to the development and maintenance of specialist technical documentation resources as directed to support teaching and learning, facility and equipment maintenance, and safe work practices.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of services to the school and its staff through active participation in process review initiatives, planning activities, the sharing of relevant and applicable knowledge, professional development activities, and the training and mentoring of new staff.
  • Compliance with ECU policies and practices in all aspects of their work and conduct; and ensure the safety and wellbeing of themselves and others by complying with WH&S and EO requirements.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

  • Completion of a relevant tertiary qualification in screen production or broadcasting OR the equivalent level of relevant expertise gained from a combination of experience, training or professional accreditation.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel are required.
  • Must be proficient with editing software such as Adobe Premiere and DaVinci Resolve.
  • Experience operating a range of media production equipment including digital cinema cameras, lighting equipment, grip equipment and audio recording equipment is necessary.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills and experience with computers and media production equipment is necessary.
  • Customer service experience is desirable
  • A Class-C driver’s license
