An exciting and innovative opportunity has arisen for a registered nurse to join the Acute Medical Unit but also work alongside the Acute Intervention (AIT) and Cardiac Arrest Prevention (CAP) Team to develop skills and experience with a view to develop into a nurse practitioner. The AIT service supports the provision of care across the Trusts two acute sites by providing education and support for all healthcare staff caring for the acutely ill deteriorating patient. Facilitating decision making and communication between clinical staff, patients and relatives is a key component of the role. The Team is firmly committed to ensure all patients are treated by the right professional, in the right place, at the right time, first time, every time, 24 hours-a-day.This is an exciting role that will allow you to work in an acute clinical environment whilst learning and developing skills that will allow you to progress into a nurse practitioner role should a position becomes avaliableMain duties of the jobThe post holder will be responsible for the safe delivery of care and patients within the Acute Medical Unit (AMU). As this is a development post the post holder will also be required to work with the cardiac arrest prevention team to support education and training of deteriorating patient and resuscitation as well as providing supernumerary support to the acute intervention team to learn the nurse practitioner role.The post holder will be responsible for the planning, organization and delivery of care to patients and for supervision of junior staff within the team. The post holder will be expected to take charge of the ward as and when required. As this is a development post it would be expected that in time the staff nurse would be able to competently deliver RGN essential training and life support courses as determined by the cardiac arrest prevention team sister to assist building their teaching experience and skills.
