The team plays a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of Executive Government and supports key departmental deliverables. The team is agile and works in a fast-paced and ever-evolving environment. The team often faces unique problems and relies on innovative and creative problem-solving to meet stakeholder requirements.What you will doThe Security Adviser role provides critical support to senior Commonwealth and Government officials both within Australian Parliament House and other sites around Australia.In the Security Adviser role, you will be primarily responsible for the operations within the Parliament House Briefing Room (PHBR) and includes the provision of bespoke information security solutions and the operation of a range of communications equipment. This equipment is designed to provide Cabinet and the office of the Prime Minister with real-time access to sensitive and classified information.You will also be required to accompany official travelling parties overseas and domestically to ensure information security and secure communications support is on hand. Further, staff are required to undertake ad-hoc after hours work and participate in an on-call roster.Due to the sensitivity of the role, the successful candidate must hold, or be able to obtain, a Top Secret (Positive Vetting) clearance. A merit pool may be established and used to fill the same or similar vacancies for 18 months from the date of advertising.What you will bringOur ideal candidate will have:

At PM&C to be eligible for this position you should be an Australian Citizen at the closing date of application, unless exceptional circumstances apply. * The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance, or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level.
- The successful candidate will be assessed through our pre-employment screening checks, such as an Australian Criminal History Check, and will normally be subject to a six-month probation period if new to the APS or has not yet completed their probation period elsewhere in the APS.
