Reporting to the Head of Corporate Communications, the Toronto Transit Commission is currently hiring for a Manager, Corporate Communications to join our dynamic team.What You Will DoAs the incumbent of this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective corporate communication plans and strategies ensuring plans are within the framework of an integrated strategy for internal and external communications that meet internal clients and internal/external audience requirementsIn this role, you will develop related communications policies and procedures while overseeing the management of communications projects including the planning, writing and production of communications products in print and on-line. All encompassed, you will participate in the measurement of the effectiveness of communication channels, and develops recommendations for improvementsThis role will require you to provide a wide range of internal/external communications including research and a print range of multimedia and online communications such as bulletins, newsletters, news releases, audiovisual material, website and social networking content.You will maintain direct contact with internal and external stakeholders for communications initiatives and issues including but not limited to responding to media inquiries, and acting as a spokesperson for the department as assigned. In addition, you’ll provide communications counselling to senior management/executive and TTC Board members on sensitive, complex issues.In this role, the Manager, Corporate Communications will substitute for the Head of Corporate Communications as assigned to attend public and TTC meetings to present and/or discuss the issues and strategies as required while working closely with senior management/executive, internal clients, as well as collaborates with external stakeholders to maintain an understanding of current communications challenges and requirements.In addition, you will plan, direct and supervise the work of the Corporate Communications staff ensuring a strong focus on employees and supporting internal departments. You will monitor staff workloads and provide guidance, assistance and support to staff in order to meet section goals and objectives on a timely basis ensuring all staff adhere to all corporate and departmental policies and practices while evaluating staff performances and make recommendations for promotions, salary increases, staff development, disciplinary and related matters.The incumbent will also Participation in the TTC’s Customer Service Ambassador ProgramYou will be required to promote a respectful work and service environment that supports diversity, inclusion, and is free from harassment and discrimination.   • Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in Communications, Public Relations or a related discipline, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent, combined with extensive, senior level corporate and/or government experience in strategic communications and issues management
  • Excellent knowledge of the corporate communications field including various forms of internal and external communications such as printed materials, social media, video, film, TV and radio
  • Experience working in internal and external communications in the public sector specializing in reputation management and issue resolution
  • Experience in leading and mentoring a team, and achieving excellent results, in addition to being a team player
  • Prior experience working in a technical, project management environment is an asset
  • Comprehensive understanding of the role of communication principles and practice within an organization
  • Exceptional research, writing, editing and presentation skills
  • Well-developed technical skills in Microsoft Office products, combined with applied knowledge of desktop design, publication/production/presentation software and new technologies, digital and social media communications
  • Must possess sound judgement, sensitivity and discretion; strong communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills, and the ability to establish effective work relationships with internal and external stakeholders and colleagues
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills to manage multiple projects and priorities in a timely manner and adapt to changing situations
  • Strategic and creative thinking, political sensitivity and the ability to motivate and co-ordinate the efforts of others to accomplish objectives
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees
