About the RoleThe Lecturer: Aboriginal Studies is responsible for the development, teaching and coordination of Aboriginal Studies courses within the Academic Unit’s undergraduate and postgraduate programs, and contributing to the Academic Unit’s research agenda. The position will contribute independently and as part of a team to support the Academic Unit’s teaching and research outcomes and to carry out activities to maintain and develop their scholarly, research and/or professional activities with a specific focus on Aboriginal Studies.About UniSAThe is Australia’s University of Enterprise. - Develop, coordinate, and teach Aboriginal Studies courses. This includes building and maintain connections with local Aboriginal communities, including Elders, and community organisations in service to the courses and programs of the Academic Unit
- Develop a research and scholarly track record. This includes contributing to research and scholarly activity, independently and/or as a member of a team, which results in quality publications in relevant academic journals, and the presentation of conference papers and seminars
- Create, foster and enhance local and national links with relevant community and university bodes as they assist the advancement of University and Academic Unit objectives
- Plan, review and manage resources to facilitate the Academic Unit’s teaching activities
Essential Skills and Experience
- Identify as an Australian Aboriginal person and possess a demonstrated understanding of the issues impacting on the provision of services to and workforce considerations for Aboriginal communities
- Tertiary qualification or relevant industry/discipline experience in Aboriginal Studies
- Demonstrated expertise, knowledge and a commitment to the contemporary practice of Aboriginal Studies
- Demonstrated ability and experience carrying out teaching activities which are academically relevant, centre Aboriginal knowledges and pedagogies, and reflect student and professional needs and standards
- A commitment to establishing a program of research and scholarly activity that enhances the research profile of Academic Unit by conducting activity, independently and/or as a member of a team, which results in publication in relevant academic journals, and the presentation of conference papers and seminars
