Mauritius, officially the Republic of Mauritius, is an island country in the Indian Ocean about 2,000 kilometers (1,240 mi) east of Madagascar. The country includes the islands of Mauritius and Rodrigues, and the outer islands of Agaléga, St. Brandon, and Île aux Aigrettes. Mauritius is part of the Mascarene Islands, along with Réunion, a French overseas department.
