Working on the Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit, you will be an integral part of a team who are committed to enhancing, uplifting and guiding the journey to recovery for clients and their families. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside a great team of nurses and allied health professionals and a supportive and innovative management team to provide quality care to members of the community with mental illness in an inpatient setting.
Where you’ll be working
Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit, Eastern Suburbs Mental Health Service, located on the Prince of Wales Hospital campus, Randwick. What you’ll be doing

All staff are expected to take reasonable care that their actions do not adversely affect the health and safety of others, that they comply with any reasonable instruction that is given them and with any reasonable policies/procedures relating to health or safety in the workplace, as well as notifying any hazards/risks or incidents to their managers.
The Enrolled Nurse delivers high quality nursing care to patients/clients of the Eastern Suburbs Mental Service consistent with SESLHD and Eastern Suburbs Mental Health Service policies, procedures and standards.
The Enrolled Nurse works under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse, and assists in the provision of nursing care. Enrolled Nurses retain responsibility for their personal actions whilst remaining accountable to the Registered Nurse for delegated functions. All Enrolled Nurses must comply and act in accordance with recognised professional and organisational standards established by:
- NSW Health
- The Nurses and Midwives Board of Australia
- South Eastern Sydney Local Health District
- Eastern Suburbs Mental Health Service
- Clinical supervision at the point of care is the role and responsibility of each Registered Nurse/Midwife and Enrolled
- Nurse within everyday clinical practice, in line with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council Decision Making
- Frameworks for Nurses and Midwives.
The vision for nursing in the ESMHS is to provide meaning and purpose to plan for the future; have reference to an inspirational statement that is consistent with the purpose and values of nursing; and to inspire nurses to provide the highest quality healthcare to patients in any circumstance.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Selection Criteria * Current registration as an Enrolled Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Holds a Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia approved qualification in medicines administration.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, carers, other care providers, hospital clinicians, immediate team members and other stakeholders.
- Supports working in a person centred environment.
- Current professional practice knowledge base.
- Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems.
- Demonstrated understanding of recovery principles and commitment to the philosophy and practice of consumer, family and carer participation and consumer focused care.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to deliver high quality patient care in Mental Health setting.
