Connect easily and quickly with the world through the Canberra International Airport, or Sydney domestic and International Airport with the beach and ski fields just 2 hours away.What you’ll be doingThe Clinical/Senior Psychologist / Psychologist provides community based acute mental health services for mental health consumers and their families who are referred to the Safeguards Child and Adolescent Mental Health Response Teams. The position will also provide expert clinical support to the team under the leadership of the Safeguards psychiatrist.The Safeguards Team operates 7 days/week with extended hours on weekdays, and will respond to young people in their schools, homes and communities and in hospital-based settings (EDs/Wards), through face to face, phone and telehealth
appointments.Selection Criteria * Relevant tertiary qualifications, professional registration/membership as per the Health and Community Employees Psychologists (State) Award , plus significant clinical experience in child and youth mental health. Noting a minimum general registration period of 3 years is highly desirable to meet eligibility to participate in training to be a Board-approved supervisor – SEE ESSENTIAL CRITERIA 1
- Extensive effective experience in conducting mental health assessments, providing evidence-based interventions and evaluating clinical outcomes, particularly in the area of Child and Adolescent Mental Health, with demonstrated understanding of the Mental Health Act (2007).
- Extensive contemporary experience and knowledge of psychological practice, as well as demonstrated understanding of the principles of trauma-informed care and its application when working with children/adolescents and families/carers.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in the provision of consumer-focused care.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to accomplish service goals and improved consumer care and outcomes.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and competence in the use of information technology systems.
- Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff.
- Evidence of a current unrestricted driver’s licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.
