- Identify, plan, deliver and manage projects and initiatives to reduce waste to landfill and increase resource recovery.

You will assist in the development and support the implementation of a Council Circular Economy Strategy whilst also preparing and delivering waste management presentations and resources to Council and the community.Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of Councils kerbside reform program (delivery of the four-bin system) providing project management, strategic and operational advice to guide the successful expansion to a four-bin system by 2027.
- Project manage the implementation of approved waste minimisation programs including but not limited to recycling contamination reduction initiatives, minimisation of hazardous waste, e-waste and textile waste.
- Assess development waste management proposals and provide advice to the Technical Services and Statutory Planning Department for existing, proposed and approved medium and high-density developments.
- Analyse data, identify opportunities and prepare reports with appropriate recommendations for consideration by the Coordinator and Lead. Recommend programs to increase Circular Economy and Waste Reduction Outcomes to achieve Council’s land diversion targets.
- Provide prompt, accurate, courteous and consistent service when dealing with citizens and ensure that all obligations, agreements and deadlines are met whilst always seeking positive outcomes for those dealing with the City of Moonee Valley.
- Liaise with residents, community groups, internal stakeholders, State Government Departments and other Councils about Council’s waste reduction efforts and to welcome suggestions and feedback on these programs.
Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Waste and Resource Recovery or Sustainability or commensurate experience project management in the resource recovery and waste services industry.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Commonwealth and State Legislation, Regulations and Policies relating to Circular Economy and Waste Minimisation. Ability to scale down these to design and apply projects at the practical scale to assist with implementing thesuccessful expansion to a four-bin system by 2027
- Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills to establish and maintain effective relations and cooperation of stakeholders, as well as responding to customer enquiries.Well-developed critical thinking skills with ability to use knowledge and experience to adapt to fast-paced, changing project environments and situations.
- Well-developed written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear analytical reports, document processes and procedures, develop and maintain promotional and training materials, undertake data entry and analyse results.
- Valid Victorian (or other Australian state or territory) Drivers Licence
