About the Role:Our client in the Real Estate industry is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant for their Property Accounting team. This role provides a fantastic opportunity for growth and development for someone who is diligent, a strong team player, and has a passion for the real estate sector.Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare annual final CAM and Tax billing, including developing Excel models and auditing existing leases
- Manage entries and reconciliations related to property acquisitions and dispositions as needed
- Execute month-end and recurring journal entries
- Compile monthly reporting packages, including financial statements
- Prepare quarterly reporting packages with financial statements, work papers, and supporting schedules
- Handle intercompany chargebacks
- Conduct GST/HST reconciliations
- Perform bank reconciliations
- Develop the annual budget
- Prepare annual year-end audit working papers and collaborate with auditors during the audit process
- Create tenant/vendor chargebacks as required
- Manage cash flow and cash calls when necessary
- Undertake additional property accounting tasks and duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance or related field of study
- Working towards CPA designation strongly preferred
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in real estate accounting or 2 years of auditing experience with real estate clients at major accounting firms
- Strong attention to detail, with the capability to organize and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Familiarity with MRI software is considered an asset
